New of 34 human bomb
Mumbai alert mode
Mumbai Police have gone into high alert mode following a chilling threat received via WhatsApp on their traffic police helpline. The message claimed that 34 "human bombs" loaded with a total of 400 kg of RDX explosive had been placed in vehicles across the city with the intention of triggering a large-scale blast. The sender also claimed affiliation with a group calling itself ‘Lashkar-e-Jihadi’ and alleged that 14 Pakistani terrorists had already infiltrated India to execute this plan.
Though the authenticity of the threat is still under investigation, authorities are treating it with utmost seriousness, especially considering the upcoming festivals of Anant Chaturdashi and Eid-e-Milad, which typically see large public gatherings in Mumbai. The city’s security infrastructure has been significantly ramped up as a precaution, with increased patrolling, vehicle checks, and surveillance at key locations.
An official from the police department mentioned that such threatening messages are not entirely uncommon, as they often turn out to be hoaxes or are sent by individuals struggling with mental health issues or under the influence of alcohol. However, no threat is taken lightly in a city that has faced serious terror attacks in the past.
The message did not specify any exact target locations, which complicates the investigation. Nevertheless, cyber experts are currently tracking the origin of the WhatsApp number, and the police are confident they will soon identify and locate the individual behind the message. Once the sender is traced, further legal procedures—including the registration of a formal complaint (FIR)—will be initiated at the relevant police station.
In the meantime, citizens are urged to remain calm but vigilant and to report any suspicious activity or unattended vehicles. The police have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safety and security of the city.
